Exposed: Altuda Arms Apartments

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Recently I conducted a short interview with an ex-resident of Altuda Arms and the information I recieved was quite shocking. Altuda Arms is located at 5301 Transmountain/Woodrow Bean in Northeast El Paso. The outside of the complex looks decent and the rent is fairly cheap.

According to the ex-resident the apartment complex is far from what she would call home. Eventhough she stayed there for a year, only to honor the lease contract, it was not a very enjoyable experience.

From the begining appliances were not working throughout the apartment. The ex-resident made complaints of the freezer not freezing correctly. The maintance came and supposedly fixed it, but she always had the problem. She could only put a few items in the freezer at a time or it wouldn’t freeze. Her toilet leaked for five months. She made complaints but maintenance didn’t show up. They finally showed up once the leaking water went down into the downstairs neighbors apartment.

The worst problem that she experienced in the aparment was the constant flow of insects especially roaches. The apartment complex did send pest control, but the pest problem continued. The ex-resident even bought her own sprays and pesticides in order to stop the problem, but the problem remained.

Finally the Resident decided to move out during the last month of her lease. She told the office staff to take the money out of her bank like every month for rent. So she moved out and a week later recieved a call from Paula in the office. Paula told the ex-resident that she abandoned her apartment and owed alot of fees. The ex-resident was in shock and contacted corporate, but they failed to do anything about the situation.

This article is to inform people of a few of the things that go on in these apartments. So just keep in mind to ask alot of questions before you move into any apartments, and do alot of research.

Exposed: Ciro’s Restaurant

Monday, July 9th, 2007

I’ve decided to start writing a weekly blog exposing bad experiences in different places around the city. It may be a restaurant, a club, an office, or any other place. I think this can be great for people who may be thinking of going to a certain somewhere, but don’t know much about the place.

This week I have to talk about Ciro’s address 5725 Dyer Street, just so no one gets it mixed up with a different one. Anyways the first day that i went to Ciro’s my friend had recommended it to me. So I went with her to have lunch. Now, first things first, the outside looks horrible. The inside is not so bad. It’s decent for the size and location of the place. Ciro’s is a Mexican restaurant and the prices are very affordable. The first problem I had was that the waitress didn’t speak English. Which is really not a huge problem because it is a mexican restaurant, but it’s not accomodating to non-spanish speaking customers. The second thing is that there was a huge plastic wrapper in my food. That is just disgusting. How can you cook food and not see a plastic wrapper while you are cooking. It makes me wonder about what is really going on in the kitchen. When I told the waitress she was very apologetic and explained that the wrapper came from chicken. Personally I still don’t think that is good for business considering it was my first time there. Besides all of that, I can make better enchiladas than them.

Just a warning to all, Ciro’s may be good and it may be cheap. If I were you, I would think twice before eating there.
