El Paso Museum Of Archaeology

by Adrean Johnson

Pithouse People
El Paso, TX offers a great educational experience with their Museum of Archaeology. Open Tuesday through Saturday, this museum offers exhibits on Paleoindians, Pithouse People, Mescalero’s, The Cliff Dwellers, Archaic Cultures, and more. Located right outside of the Beautiful Franklin Mountains, you can enjoy wild and exotic flowers. The best part of this museum is that there is absolutely no fee, but they do except donations. Donations are always a good idea, to keep the museum running. Group tours are available if you call in advanced. I recommend that everyone take the time to see it, if ever in El Paso. I must admit that there is one thing about the museum that may worry people. There are many postings that state, “Beware of Snakes and Scorpions”. I have been there a few times and personally have never experienced any snakes or scorpions, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there. El Paso is the desert, and anyone could possibly see snakes or scorpions anywhere in the city. If your a desert person, you would truly enjoy this attraction. For those who don’t love the desert, you shouldn’t pass up the chance to experience this kind of culture and history.
